VIKARIA LESTARI OBSERVES
Renowned as the centre of the contemporary art scene, Paris recently hosted the yearly art fair themed as ART PARIS + GUESTS that was run from March 18th to 22nd and participated in by 114 international exhibitors.
They met the challenge to provide Paris with a new springtime art event reflecting the city's artistic and cultural potential and to attract players from the international art community. Held at Grand Palais, the ARTPARIS+GUESTS contemporary art fair entrusts collectors and players in the art world with the mission of presenting the core forces of the art world as well as emphasising inventiveness and combined approaches.
As a 2010 novelty at ARTPARIS+GUESTS, Indonesia was represented by an interesting platform entitled "The Grass Looks Greener Where You Water It." The Indonesian platform, showcased by collector Deddy Kusuma, reserves a special place for Indonesian art within the current context of globalised art. The platform showcased impressive works from 20 selected artists including Agus Suwage, Nyoman Masriadi, Pintor Sirait and Rudi Mantofani. As a private collector of Indonesian art, Deddy Kusuma shares his view, "Buy the works that you like as soon as you can, before others have a chance to see them."
